"From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. “Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.” Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God." - Catholic Catechism 336

The most important prayer we can pray after the Lord's Prayer is the prayer to our Guardian Angel The stand beside us while we sleep, and they are there in the morning when we awake. The last prayer we should say before bed is also the first we should say upon waking. In Latin:

"Angele Dei, qui custos es mei, me tibi commissum pietate superna; hodie (hac nocte) illumina, custodi, rege, et guberna. Amen."

In English:
"Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His love commits me here; ever this day (this night) be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen."
